چکیده

1. Schistocerca gregaria ion-transport peptide (Scg-ITP), a neuropeptide isolated from locust corpora cardiaca, stimulates ileal Cl~ transport (/«:) in a dose-dependent manner and causes increases in Na, K (/K) and fluid reabsorption (7V) as previously observed with crude extracts of corpus cardiacum and with cyclic AMP. Unlike cyclic AMP, ScgITP does not stimulate ileal NH4 secretion. 2. H secretion (7H) in the ileum, which is not affected by cyclic AMP, is almost completely abolished by Scg-ITP. Although ITP may act via cyclic AMP as second messenger to stimulate NaCl, KC1 and fluid reabsorption, it apparently acts through a different intracellular pathway to influence JH. 3. Scg-ITP is unlikely to be the chloride transport stimulating hormone previously reported to act on the rectum, because it did not produce a maximum rectal /sc response and had no effect on either rectal Jv (which is Cl~-dependent) or IK-

Locust ion transport peptide (ITP): primary structure, cDNA and expression in a baculovirus system.

Ion transport peptide (ITP) purified from locust nervous corpus cardiacum (CC) has previously been shown to stimulate salt and water reabsorption and inhibit acid secretion in the ileum of Schistocerca gregaria. We used the partial amino acid sequence of purified ITP to derive degenerate primers. These were used to amplify a cDNA from brain RNA using reverse transcription and the polymerase cha...

Isolation of a neuropeptide from locust corpus cardiacum which influences ileal transport.

1. Schistocerca gregaria ion-transport peptide (Scg-ITP) was isolated from aqueous extracts of the corpus cardiacum by a four-step procedure, utilizing reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography for separation and stimulation of a Cl(-)-dependent short-circuit current (Isc) across locust ilea as the bioassay. 2. Scg-ITP has an unblocked N terminus and an apparent relative molecular ma...

The major stimulant of ileal fluid reabsorption in Locusta migratoria and Schistocerca gregaria corpora cardiaca, ion-transport peptide (ITP), had no stimulatory action on fluid secretion by isolated Malpighian tubules

secretion by the Malpighian tubules of a KCl-rich primary urine, containing most small solutes found in the haemolymph, followed by selective reabsorption of essential substances in the hindgut as required for homeostasis. Secretion by Malpighian tubules is driven by a proton gradient (maintained by an apical V-type ATPase secreting protons into the lumen), which in turn drives a luminal K+/H+ ...

Transport Properties of Locust Ileum in Vitro: Effects of Cyclic Amp

1. Short-circuited locust ilea exhibited electrical properties remarkably similar to those of recta. The large short-circuit current (Isc) and transepithelial potential, both indicating net active absorption of anions, initially began to decline to zero but could be fully restored by adding cyclic AMP or extracts of corpus cardiacum and ventral abdominal ganglia to the haemocoel side. 2. Ion su...

Investigation of ion transport and water content properties in anion exchange membranes based on polysulfone for solid alkaline fuel cell application

In present research work, homogeneous anion exchange membranes based on polysulfone (QAPSFs) were prepared via chloromethylation, amination and alkalization. In amination step, trimethylamine and N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,6-hexanediamine were used as amination and crosslinking agents, respectively. The chloromethylated polysulfone was characterized by 1HNMR spectroscopy and chloromethylation degr...
